Q: I am considering your software but had a few questions before I move forward. If I am not following particular companies, will I have the capability to either receive email alerts on all stocks with trends for that day or is there somewhere in the site where you can view daily trends for all stocks, not just those on a watch-list or portfolio?
Thanks a lot,
Bryan
A:Hello Bryan,
Thanks for your email. In order to receive trend alerts via email, you must add the company(ies) to your Watchlist. You can view all trend alerts for the past week via the “SmarTrend Alerts” tab within the paid product (see attached screenshot). If you would like to see all alerts on a particular stock during a certain time period, you can go to the company’s chart within the product, manipulate the time period and see all UPTREND and DOWNTREND alerts represented as up/down arrows on the charts. You can signup for a free 14-day trial on our website, www.mysmartrend.com. Please reply to this post if you have any further questions.

Q: You recommend so many stocks that are up or down trending. How is a person suppose to buy the recommendations? You cannot buy 50 stocks a week or month. All the recommendations do not react as your system says they will. Is it just a guess to decide which ones to buy?
If not, please explain how we would know which stocks to invest or trade in? Is this system more for traders than investors?
Roger
A: SmarTrend does not pick individual stocks to buy or sell. It is intended to alert you as to when stocks you are watching are changing trend so you an better time new positions as well as prepare for potential corrections in the case of a Downtrend. This is why the watch list is such an important feature and why we allow up to 100 stocks. We intend to add some sorting capabilities where you can filter by market cap or some other metric. That will be available soon. In the meantime you can sort the All SmarTrend Alerts tab by Price which might be useful. We understand not all stocks can be traded but we provide market timing alerts on 5000 securities so all our users can be assured that stocks they find attractive are being watched. Its like have 5000 analysts watching your portfolio for changes in momentum and trend. This is to be sure we can offer the greatest amount of stock coverage to the greatest number of people as stocks you might find of interest may be different than those another user will be watching. Many of our users also like to sort by type of trend (Up or Down) based on where we see the market in the near term as determined in our daily Morning Call newsletter. The system is used by both traders and investors – traders who look for swing trades find the service useful as our trends last, on average, about 30 days but can be anywhere from a few days to a few months depending on the underlying market. Investors also find our service helpful as they may want to own a number of stocks long term but only want to hold during periods of Uptrend to avoid major drawdowns like the one in 2008 and early 2009.
